wow, the movement of the lights/stars is such a great contrast to the stillness and stability of the trees. great composition of the shot as well =)

thanks, it's about 10min long, and the trees were dead still in the night. it helps to have local knowledge about where the southern celestial pole is too ;)

wow. cool shot. what was the source of that orange light? I really want to try something like this, but unfortunately living in Los Angeles doesn't allow much star-gazing...

the orange light in the bottom left is an oil refinery on the coast of whangarei, new zealand. but the cloud and lightness in the middle is the actual milkyway (just made orange by the refinery lights)

it was such an amazing view, even with the light polution it was still 10x better than what i see in europe!

if you see the real stars you would be even more fascinated... i promise, the only reason why the exposure is so long, is because i was enjoying the view so much!!

Again such amazing startracks ;) The all got antother colour! Wouldn't be possible to catch a shot like these in centraleurope ,)
